First thing to do is run the internal diagnostic. With the engine off and the key in "run" position, jump the two wires in the diagnostic port (under the ashtray, ports D and E) with what looks like a missing divider between them. You should hear clicking from the carb. The "check engine" light should start flasshing. The first three series of flashes should be one and two. After that, write down the trouble codes and post them. We'll go from there.

As CA-Legal-Vette, the test code is 12, one blink a short pause and two quick blinks, a longer pause and then it repeats 2 more times.After 12 flashes 3 times there will be a pause and then any stored codes will blink 3 times, in the same manor as the 12 code. If you have more than 1 code stored, the lowest numerical code will flash first, followed by the next highest, untill codes have been flashed. The codes will them flash in order again until you remove the jumper wire.
