Flooding Demon
It floods every now and then, mostly but not always when its hot.
We put a plastic carb spacer on in case it was a heat issue, no change.
We have a mechanical pump and it has been showing around 9 psi. We put a filter after it and it came down to 7-8. No change in intermittent flooding.
We got the carb to flood today while idling, fuel started pouring out of all 4 airbleeds on the secondaries but the fuel level in the secondaries dropped right down well out of sight.
When we restarted fuel pressure was low as the secondaries had to refill. It cleared and ran well again but 5 mins later it died again from flooding.
When we connect a rubber hose and blow into the primary and secondary bowl vents, it much easier to blow into the primaries. When we poke a rod into the vents, the primary vent goes much deeper, while the secondary doesn't seem to make it to the bowl. Is this normal?
Im totally lost, and desperate for ideas.

The thanks must go to BarryK and Lars.
I think the heat shield would be good but we have raised the carb away from the manifold and the hood was open when it flooded last time. I felt the carb bowl and it wasnt what I would call hot.
I might have to investigate the venting system. Ive checked my holleys, they all have even depth to the vent line, unlike this Demon.
