200R4 help needed
A friend has just completed a 200R4 install in his 78 and is having a problem. Shifting into first gear from neutral and when it shifts down to first when driving, it bangs into first only. Reverse is smooth and all the other gears are smooth. Anyone have a solution? The trans was purchased from Summit racing.

I think this was mentioned in another thread....,
whats your idle at in nuetral?
If its a little high that could influence the bang/initial engage.

Idle is 700rpm, it also bangs hard on the down shifting back to first gear also.
I did notice that the TV cable is not connected but I don't think that will effect first gear slow shifting.

The tv cable has everything to do with controling line pressure in all gears. Get the tv cable sorted out first.

unless you are running a manual valve body as I am then this gets rid of the TV cable. Mine shifts quite hard also. Squeels tires when it shifts.
With the manual valve body you need to shift the tranny.
