Corvette Central sells the SLPs for $1k for the set (chrome). I sent an e-mail to them and they responded saying that they weight 23.5 lbs each (bare rim weight).
I see MAM has them for $700 - are these chrome or black? They say hyper-black, but the picture looks like they are aluminum (not chrome)
Also, has anyone found some nice looking chrome 17x9's that are less than 1k and fit without spacers or adapters?
15 years ago, well before 50 series tires were available for these rims, the '92 vette rims with useable tires were bought....4 of them for 400 bux, used of course.....plus 250 bux for a set of VBO wheel adaptors....so figger it's 600 bux for a set of rims....I painted the centers a black metallic to sort of mimick the olde tyme cast mag appearance...gray spokes, polished alumnum ring....
OH, these clear fine with a VBP plastic spring and 8" bolts....they also clear fine with moving the ebrake tab, and with sway bars too....without going to extremes of altered trailing arms/etc....
in 17's your looking at somehting along the lines of the 255-50/17...which is what i run on the rear of my car - i run a staggered size 245-45 up fgront but in retrospect i should stayed with the single size.
I just purchased the SLP's from mid america with free shipping on the rims. After seeing your pictures and hearing your comments, I am thinking of going with Kumho 255/50/17 in the rear and 255/45/17 in the front. The treat width is exactly the same as my BF Goodrich Radial T/A's 255/60/15's on the car now but with a 27 in diameter in the rear and 26 in diameter in the front. I am looking for an inch reduction in the diameter in the front versus the rear which will give the car a slightly pitched forward stance. The 245/45/17's have a 25.7 in diameter and I am taking your word that you would go bigger based on your experience. Your thoughts?
