Anyone out there replaced their stock SB with one of HITECH's crate engines? I was ready to order the GM ZZ383 until I saw the HITECH's 383 at the performance shop. Cost wise it is a wash. Spec wise it looks to be equally built (with different components). I've seen these motors in the TV shows OVERHAULIN and HORSEPOWER but I've always been a GM fan. I don't mind saving $$$ on the shipping cost too. What do you guys think?
I was told they make the create motors for yearone along with derebery performance. I have the yearone 350 roller that derebery performace built. Its a great motor and have not had any issues with it in 5500 miles.

thanks! In your opinion does it sound like a chevy/gm engine or more 'ford' engine sound? I don't like the higher chambered sound that ford engines make...nothing wrong with ford engines...
its chevy all the way. I ran mine opened header and its was loud. now i have 2.5 dual exhuast with headers and x pipe and i have that great rumble at idle and all hell breaking loose when i get on it.
I'm running with hooker header side pipes with the spiral baffles on my 71 roadster...I can't wait to hear that 383 roar!...did you have any hood clearance problem since these engines come with the vortec air gap intakes that are much taller?
