Default seat question

Over the years on my 1976 corvette the seats have been used so much that the bolts on the back, that controls the angle the seat sits at, have ether been really worn or broken making the seats sit to far back to see over the dash. Since I am going to have the seats stripped to weld I am planing to replace the leather and the cushion. I was wondering if anyone knows where to find the seat cushion and leather for the cheapest price? If anyone has any advice or web sites on working on seats it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Right now we have the seat covers, foam and install kits on sale to forum members. You should be able to find them at this link.

I recently ordered new covers($298-OEM style), foam($130) and seat hardware from Willcox. I've done one seat so far (took about 3.5 hours) broke it down, cleaned and painted the frame and replaced the foam and covers...it came great. I also replaced the bolts you speak of (four bolts @ $ 3.00 each) now I can adjust the back and "see" out the windshield. Call willcox and ask for Norm, he is extremely helpful.

I got all my interior parts from Willcox. Great customer service and great prices. Norm and Tony both went out of the way to help me.

Whatever you do if you do pull the seats for new covers don't be cheap! Spend the money and get the foam to go with them and be done with it!

I agree, "cheap is expensive." You are going to replace them and then hate the old foam if you reuse it. Besides nobody desrves nice new seats better than your baby. I hear the all vinyl covers (about $190) Willcox sells are really nice if you are trying to save a bit.

When you get your covers off, you'll probably find the seat backs are sagging because the lower, back of the bottom seat frame, where the lower stop bolts thread in, has collapsed/bent/broken. This is very common. There is a repair piece made by Bair's to fix this. It's thicker and stronger than the original. It bolts in using the existing seat hardware and runs about $25.00 each. I've had a few customers buy them, and they all seamed pleased with them. Most Vette venders should have these.

Other than keeping it original, why not go to C5 seats? If its going to cost 400-500 to refoam and repair the C3 seats... why not just but a nice set of leather C5 seats for 500-600?
