I just bought a Mr. Gasket heat shield to install on my Holley carb to help eliminate hard starting when hot. It came with no instructions and I'm not sure of the correct order when installing. There is one large aluminum shield, 4 gaskets and 3 or 4 smaller shields. I'm guessing that I would place a gasket on the manifold first, then the large shield, then another gasket, then another shield and so on, but I'm not sure. If anyone has installed one of these, could you please let me know the order that everything should be installed in? It's for a 77 Vette, stock 350, with a Holley 600 cfm.
Thanks,
Kenny
Hey Kenny,
Sorry I cant help you with the install. I'm surprised that no instructions were provided. Maybe someone at Mr. Gasket removed them for someone else and you were the unlucky one who came up short. I think I would opt for a phone call to them and ask them to fax it to you (if you have a fax machine). Ive done that before. Its a quick cheep fix for them. 10 digits and your out of their hair. Good luck. Chuck
I used one of those on my engine a while back and I found that it did help the heat problem. I'm not sure that it really matters where you put the heat shield as long as you stack them spacer, gasket, spacer, gasket... I recall that I had to cut a small hole in mine to allow clearance for the secondary linkage to open though.
Thanks guys, I was thinking along those lines. Gasket on the intake, then spacer, gasket, spacer, gasket, then gasket on top for the carb to sit on. I'll get it hooked up this afternoon and hope it solves my hard starting when hot. Thanks again,
Kenny
