Default 1974 starter wiring

Anyone know real quick what gauge the wires are for the starter circuit on a 74 vert? Except for the battery cable, thats good. I tried a forum search but none of the links seem to work for me so couldn't find any info.

I need to rewire from the upper firewall area down to the starter to eliminate all the melted, taped, soldered, twisted, light cord and 110 wire bubba induced mess I found. Rather than fool with it, I just cut it out and replaced the starter, now need to get some wire and set things right.

Also, I found what appears to be a heavy gauge ground cable mounted near the engine, connected to the frame, but burned/cut off and not connected to anything. Might that explain all the bubba attempts to create lots of small ground wires all through the car?

I'll check when I get home. The red one that feeds the fuse panel is larger gauge than to others, that much I remember. You also have a fusible link in there and given the number of times that I've fried mine, I'd be reluctant to skip this part.

What's wrong with 110 wire? One of the reasons that I replaced by engine harness is that I replaced the fusible links and couldn't get the but joints to hold, so I used morrettes. Some saw this as questionable. :o

EDIT: Oops. Roger beat me to it.
