I have the dual chambered exhaust on two of my personal cars. It’s like having a free flowing side exhaust system only coming out the back of the car where it is not as loud on the driver.
The pipes can be ordered with collectors for the headers, or it can be ordered with the original size exhaust manifold. It’s available in stainless steel or aluminized. My 72 has this exhaust on it combined with Headman ceramic coated standard headers (dinged to clear the idler arm bolt). It runs straight in to a collector on the pipe and is 2.5” from the collector all the way to the tip.
It eliminates the bulky muffler in the back and gives the car a real clean appearance if looking at it from the rear.
This car is pushing 500 hp @ 5800 rpm’s. I’m not having any flow problems with it at all. Flows great, sounds wicked with a stock or a h/p camshaft. This car has a Comp Camshaft, Dart heads, 780 Holley on a Weinand Intake. When we have a customer that comes in to our shop and is wondering the same question, we just fire this car up and it usually gets them going instantly.
I really like this system (we sell it, but it’s not on our site yet, you would need to contact sales for a price). We should have this listed on our site real soon too!
I ended up fabricated my own. I couldn't find anyone local who would bend duals for a 76, even with cats . If your careful, you can 3" thru the crossmember with no rattles. I used wood shims from the hardware store to center the pipes in the holes while I tack welded the system in place.
You will have to have it custom bent or buy the bends and do it yourself. Make sure you have a connection after the crossmember so the pipes can be removed for trans work.
