Hi everyone,
We installed a 600 cfm eldebrock onto my 71 today and the throttle cable is too long. We can't figure out how to shorten it. I did a search and found lots of hits for throttle cable, but the threads were empty?
It sounds like a commn problem, does anyone have a suggested fix?
On my 72 I used an old vintage Holley 780 carb and ran in to the same problem. I had to fabricate a bracket that would allow for the correct distance from the clamp to the ball stud on the carb. This will put a little more bend in the cable when you mount it up, but it work’s just fine.
I also had to weld a leg off the side of it to keep it from moving when I nailed the throttle.
I don’t know if there is an aftermarket bracket available, and if there is maybe someone will jump in here with a supplier for one.

Thanks guys, since an eldebrock and a rochester look so similar I thought I was getting off easier buying it than a Holley (which I'm more familiar with). I thought all the brackets and stuff would be plug and play. Just shows what I get for thinking.
I had the same issues a few years ago when going from stock Quadrajet to Holley 750 DP. Now I have just put on a CSR alloy billet throttle backet with my new Proform 950 (less expensive than some) Stock 2" drop-base air cleaner now won't sit over bracket! - so will need to use 1" drop base cleaner, 2" air cleaner element (instead of 3"), and to replace some of the lost surface area of air cleaner element with an filter element air cleaner top cover. Carb still doesn't open 100%, so I expect that I will need to replace the gas pedal assembly with something with more leverage and 'pull'.
