Okay, so I was being dumb today and blew a fuseable link on my 77. I got a replacement and crawled under the car and wired it in but now the car still has now power!
I was looking at the starter solenoid and there seems to be a mystery wire that is connected to one of the termials but then it is about 2 inches long and not connected to anything else.
Basically, I can see two terminals on the solenoid. 1 terminal has 4 wires on it (1 is black and looks to be going to the battery, 2 are red and are fuseable links and the 4th is also red and looks to be a fuseable link but is not connected to anything, this is my mystery wire). The other terminal has only 1 wire on it and it is black.
The two red fuseable link wires from the first terminal and the sole black wire from the 2nd terminal look to all going into a harness or something together.
Just wanted to add the the "mystery" wire looks smaller in diameter than the rest of the wires. Also, with the battery connected I have 12v at the starter terminal with multiple wires and nothing at the terminal with only one wire. I also have nothing at the alternator
Heavy black battery cable to the large lug on solenoid.
Also on large lug should be a red double fusible link.
Small post closest to the block should be a 12 purple
Then there should be a 14 black that goes to one of the starter mounting bolts or a bellhousing bolt.

Yep, I have all those. I guess the one that doesn't connect to anything is extra then?
How can I figure out why I have 12v on the large lug but no power at the alternator? Is there a fuse somewhere else that could be busted?
Follow the 4 wire harness up to a connector just under the hood alarm button.See if you have a bad connection there. Are you sure your extra one isnt one of the fusible links?

Yea, all 4 wires that go into the harness (2 red, 1 purple and 1 black ground) are in good shape. I'll go check the connector now.
Sweet! It must have been something to do with that connector. I pulled it apart, had 12v on both red wires and as soon as I put the connector back together, the world was happy again!
Thanks for the suggestions DWncchs, we are up and running! Now hopefully I can pass smog tomorrow, hahahahahaha.
