1971 , 350 , 4 speed . I've started having trouble with starting . Yesterday I went out , was driving , started and stopped a few times , then nothing , no power , no lite , no radio , waited 10 min then she starts .
Today , won't start . No click , nothing . I measured voltage at batt , 14 volts , at alternator , low voltage that eventually read 12 volts . when I turn key , volt drops to nothing , and when I engage starter , meter reverses ? Then to off , volts slowly climb back up . What do you think ?
Check ALL your grounds, AND the cables at the battery. Clean everything with a wire brush. Don't forget the cable from the right side of the frame to the right hand engine mount. Old cars tend to accumulate rust at the various cable ends and old Vettes are some of the worst offenders because additional cable runs are required to get around the fiberglass bodies. Good Luck!
