I need to replace my oil pan, the gaskets are leaking and the bottom is dented and I can only get about 4 quarts of oil and 8 oz. of GM additive with a long filter.
Do you think this pan would fit? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-S...3349QQtcZphoto
If that's a circle track pan as the ad suggests, the baflling will be designed for circle track racing and you'd probably need a special pick-up tube for that pan.
I'd find a GM pan. I'm sure you can get one at your Chevy parts counter. Or Milodon or Moroso can fix you up with a stock replacement.
The factory L82 oil pan has very little in the way of baffling because of the motor mounted one. One for the sump and it may or MAY NOT have side scrapers. Make sure the baffles in this pan don't interfere with the one on the motor.
The e-bay unit has:
"Dipstick on driver's side, 5 qt capacity. 2 trap doors, crank scraper with windage tray and reinforced rails. As a bonus we are throwing in the pickup tube."
DB might be right, new one piece pan seal, new rear main seal, pump & pick-up. Wow - now it is turning into work.
