Default Clutch Linkage Help!!

I've been working my way through installing a new Centerforce Dual Friction clutch. It's in a Lakewood scatter sheild which I have always had. I did all the measurements as per the install instructions (yes, I actually read the instructions). Problem: the throw out arm (new) is hitting big time up against the floor board fiberglass when engaging the clutch. It was always close but now it's crunching glass real bad. Is there a cure for this clutch linkage geometry?? Pivot ball, throwout bearing?? Please don't tell me I have to pull the tranny again!! I'll go crazy!!

I am having the same issues and other with a custom clutch. You can do an adjustable fork pivot ball or one that is just 1.75" long instead of the factory 1.5" or 1.25". The other option is a long style throwout bearing. I have done the pivot ball but due to another issue I need the throwout bearing instead.
Either way it comes out or at least pulled back.

I did have the same floor pan clearance problem with the same clutch you have and the pivot ball alone fixed it.

I went throught the same problems when I installed a centerforce clutch kit. I found that the adjustable ball helped, but didn't quite take care of the problem. I ended up buying an adjustable throw out bearing from McLeod. It basically presses together and has two or three "rings" that you can switch or stack. If I remember correctly, the one it came with did the trick.

Corvettes do not use the same clutch fork (throwout arm) as any other GM car due to the floor pan. You need to use the corvette specific part.

Part CL-101, $66.95 at Zip

Note the biger curve on the Corvette part vice the standard GM part.

PS: I have over 10,000 miles on my CF Dual Friction and the only thing I had to swap was the pivot ball.
