Steering column removal - question about attachment inside firewall
Well, I know this has been covered before, but the older threads are still not able to be opend/viewed when doing an advanced search.
I want to remove my steering column from my '69 coupe. I have the column loose under the hood and under the dash. The wiring is unplugged under the dash too. How is it attached inside the firewall? Anyone have pics of how it is attached at the firewall (inside)?
I am having a tilt/tele column built by a local guy here and I need to trade in my old standard unit, so it's time to pull it.
I just pulled mine from the 68 to install a tilt column so yours may be the same. The only part on the firewall is a metal plate with 2- 3/8" bolts holding the plate. there is a foam seal between the plate and firewall.
Once everything was un-done a quick pull and it disconnected from the rag joint and the column was out.
