Default Gas Tank Bladder Question

I have a '77 and of course the original gas tank was rusty on the outside. I got a new gas tank and I was able to cut the original bladder out of the old tank without a mark on it. It looks like brand new. Would I be able to get the bladder into the new tank through the top hole, or not? Thanks.

don't see why not; mine came OUT of my top hole. FYI mine's been out of the tank for three years and I've never had an issue.

I got my bladder out through the top, and I as well didn't put it back in. I got about an extra gallon of capacity, and I know it's there for safety reasons but in the event of a rear end crash I don't think that rubber bladder would abide me much protection anyway that the tank walls don't already offer.

I agree as well..I just purchased a gas tank for my 77' and I was told as well that it's not necessary to install the old bladder or install a new one....Jerrylee///

In case you're still interested, 77-L48, I removed the bladder through the hole in the top of the tank and replaced it afterwards. It is possible.*

*I may have put holes in the bladder though - I don't know yet
