Need Help With M21's Poor Shifting
The 4-speed in my 78 does not shift very well, It goes from 1-4 fairly well, but it is a bit notchy and has real difficulty going from 3rd back to 2nd. The local transmission shop says the linkage looks OK from the bottom, but they were hesitant to take the console apart and see if the problem lies there. Any ideas?

I think you have a Saginaw tranny in there, I know my Muncie had that same symptom when I got it....I drained out the old fluid and put in SYNTHETIC 30 weight engine oil.....felt like a new car, slick as snot on a doorknob....
