Looking at having major work done on my 71. Anyone have any recommendations on a engine shop that does superior work on engine rebuilds. If not central Illinois how about areas close to central Illinois. Want ork done right the first time by pople who does this all the time for a living--not Bubba. Thanks

Get in touch with some of the dirt track boys that run in Springfield or Granite City. They know all the best places.

Try Out MULLINS MACHINE SHOP in MT. Olive just south of Litchfield. They have a really nice new full blown shop with an in house full dyno booth. They put together a L98 for our C-4 and it is now a strong runner with bunches of ump. They are a little more busy during this time of year but still pretty quick. You can PM me and I can tell what all they did and the cost but they where not out of line at all. I am thinking about a 383 stroker for the 72 chevelle and they can put it all together for about 4500. GOOD LUCK wro87

anyone seeking a good local auto machine shop should ask around their local circle track pits ... 'though it's probably best to keep the vette thing to yourself.

Default Galesburg Machine Shop

Those guys built me the best 4-bolt main 350 I have ever had the pleasure of abusing.

I brought the truck block, 202 heads, and steel crank/rods, they did the rest.

Motor pulled about 420hp on the dyno and pulled my old 69 camaro to mid 11s normally aspirated. Shift points were 7800 1/2 7300 2/3, After two years of stupid and I mean really stupid street and track abuse it still had the same 10.5-1 compression (i had the head shaved a bit to bump up the compression from the 9.75-1 flat top pistons) as the day I brought it home.
I was only ever beat on the street once, by a NOS'ed 396 built to the hilt. It was a 1st gear wheelie car and beat me by a half a car length at just over 1/4 mile. I should have never helped that guy build that crazy big block....

Ask anyone in that area about the Camaro with the plates DNT TRY 2 and they will remember very, very well.

I had some absolutely idiotic moments and revved that thing to 9-10k and it never flinched, not once. That poor old mouse....
Also the motor is still rocking and rolling in a friends lifted 4x4 truck. Same bearings and rings at 85,000 miles....

Even in Arizona I have my stuff built there and shipped here...I just have my brother do all the in person stuff for me. I have never had a motor failure yet.
