please help. Car wont mover...
The car is an 81 4-speed with brand new (just installed) stock shifter.
When I put the car into 1st gear and let off the clutch it wont move at all. The clutch will ingage as it will stall the car if I let to much out. I've tried to start in 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear with absolutly no movement. I was going to try reverse but I could get it to shift into reverse. I had some neigbors come over to push it back into the driveway and noticed that with the car in neutral we couldn't even push it. If we put the clutch in it would move. Almost like it was in a gear.
Anyone have a clue how to fix? Is it even possible for it to be in multiple gears or to be in a gear when the shifter is in neutral?

You have it stuck in reverse and a forward gear at the same time.Block your wheels and get under and move reverse lever back to neutral.That should do it.If not you will have to realign shifter.

Absolutely you have the levers on the tranny in the wrong position. You may have to take the shifter rods loose, put both levers in neutral, then connect the rods at the correct length. It's trying to go forward and reverse at the same time. Don't try moving the car with the clutch out until you get the levers correctly positioned.
