Default Horn on 1976 corvette

Hello fellow Corvette lovers :-)

My dad just bought him his own 1976 L48 corvette. Love it!

It has some minor electrical issues. We want to start on the horn.

This is what we have done already :
- Connected the horn directly at the battery - works like a charm
- We checked the actual horn mechanisme in the steering wheel, and this seems to be working as well.

However, when pressing the horn, nothing happens.

My questions :
- does anybody know where the horn really is situated?
- Does anybody have a good scheme of the horn electrical system? I've checked the Jim Shea pages but found nothing on the horn scheme's.

I have the Hayness manual - nothing in there and I have some manuals (factory manual) of my 72, but that is of course not always relevant for the 76 (different type of horn).

Thank you in advance.

Maarten

Not sure about the 76, but the horn relay is usually under the dash near the fuse panel. It may be under the hood on the fender well on the 76. It will have three wires, usually red, black, and green. The green goes directly to the horns, the black goes to the contact in the steering wheel, and the red goes to always 12 volts. If you find the relay, short the black wire to ground, the horn should blow. If it does, the relay is good. If it doesn't, either the relay is not working, the red wire doesn't have 12 volts (fuse?) or the horns are open or not grounded (you've already eliminated this). If the horn blows when you ground the black wire, the horn contacts in the wheel are not making connection with ground when you press the horn button.
If you short the red and green wires together and the horn blows, but not when you ground the black wire, the relay is definitely bad.
