My car has been sitting since about Early October. I've been working on a becool radiator, exhaust, 700R4 trans, wiring, and a host of other things. Is there anything special I need to do before starting it up for the first time? And do you guys know what the procedure is for the 700R4 startup?

Is there anything special to do or should I just fire it up and go?

There are definately some things that have to be checked when installing a 700-r4. The TV cable has to be correctly adjusted or you will burn the clutches out in very short order. There are some pressure readings that can be taken at various points while driving. I have no idea what these readings should be, or where you hook up the gage.
Hopefully one of the guys who has already installed a 700-r4 will see this and chime in with the right information.

My CE sat for a year and I did the following. Pulled spark plugs out and shot Marvel Mystery Oil into each cylinder(re-lube rings/cylinder walls). Let it soak for a day and then got in and "bumped" the starter for 4-5 times. Keep plugs out. Just let it crank for about 10 sec. Cleaned up the engine area(without plugs in, oil shoots everywhere) and filled tank with fresh gas. Put gas additive into tank, fired it up and let it IDLE for 15 min. Then took it for a ride around neighborhood when it was warm. After it ran for 1/2 hour, I changed the plugs.
DO NOT race the engine or go screaming down the street. That will open new problems.
Just my .02
