I have narrowed my engine choice to these two:
1, GM 350/290HP or
2, I would like your opinion about this engine as it appears too cheap to be true
What do you think????
get the crate engine. buying a rebuilt motor off someone you dont know or has no reputation is about as safe as buying bottled water from a nuclear power station.

when you don't know anything about the seller
However ... this london ad seems it's from a commercial shop ... perhaps you could get to know who they are ... verifying their qualifications ... that they have the american tooling they claim & do the job they claim. Also ... make sure the block you buy has a mounting boss for your C3's mechanical fuel pump and its cam also has a pump lobe ... fyi many later 1pc rear main seal sbc don't.
That 960 pounds looks like about $1800USD ... So, around here at least ... a rebuilt piece like that ... at that $ ... would not be incredible.
-edit-What does that 350/290 crate cost in YOUR market? ... so we can compare apples to apples. ------I don't see a GMPP 350/290 crate described on that page you linked.
