Default Holley vs Q-Jet
Does anyone know the height of the 4150 and the height of a Q-Jet? I ordered a 670 street avenger and was wondering about clearance with the stock air filter.

No I do not, but the 73 has a high-rise stock hood and you should have no clearance problems as is. If you are in doubt, you can purchase a drop base air cleaner from summitt, jegs, etc.

you probably know this, but the q-jet has a spreadbore base and the avenger has a square bore base. if you're putting it on the stock intake it probably wont fit. just fyi..

Yep I already have the vortec heads, headers, new cam and performer intake. This was the last step.

Stock aircleaner will not clear the bowls on the Holley.

Thanks I was hoping to keep the cold air , but it looks like a drop base then.

I have measured the height of the Holley 4150/4160 carbs from bottom of base plate to air cleaner contact ledge, and then compared that measurement to the Quadrajet carbs (because the Q-Jets looked taller). Both were the same.

Thanks for the info. the Holley was delivered last night. Looks like I will need a new air cleaner as stated. The float adjusters are hitting the stock one.
