Default booster dripping

Just wanted to see if this makes sense.

At idle, I have a slight popping out of the right exhaust from my 72 454.

I was thinking that it might be a stuck valve so I checked the valves and none are stuck.

I did notice however that the right side primary booster is dripping almost in time with the popping. Its very slow, maybe once every 30 seconds. Idle is good at 600rpms. There is no smoke at all but there is a slight smell of gas and if you get that "too rich eye burning"

Would that slight drip cause the exhaust popping?

I was going to rebuild the carb but after checking the number on it, it is a carb from a 350. The numbers on it are 7042203. Where is a good spot to find a 7042116.

Popping is usually a sign of a lean condition. Most audible on deceleration like exiting a highway. If it's popping at idle you might have an air leak somewhere causing the lean condition.

You might pull and read your plugs...making sure to keep track of where they cam from.

If you have gas dripping from the booster, the fuel level in the float bowl is probably too high due to debris being stuck in the needle and seat. Pull it, clean it or replace it and set it correctly and your problem will probably go away.

Common problem, it will go away after you blow it out, but it will come back again some day

i do know that i have an exhaust leak.
that sound is obvious so maybe that combined with the drip is causing the popping.
i was going to pull the carb and rebuild it until i checked the number and saw it was calibrated for a 350.

Now i am just looking for a replacement carb and a new exhaust system.
