Default C-3 rear end issue

I searched the fourms but did not find any info. On this.

I have (an ocasional) what seems like the rear end shifting/moving around when i take off from a stop and i have also felt it whlie cornerin from time to time.

I have looked for something loose but can not see anything.
All the mounts/bushings are new.

Maybe related is that my i have an issue with the sway bar. That is that when i hook it up and after a short drive it bends the links outward untill the bolts hit the rims.
When this happens it crushes the rec. (box) that it is bolted to just above the spring bolt.
Any ideas as to either of these issues?
On the sway bar , am i making a mistake by installing it with the load off it? (ie. Jacked up?

Please help.
Geo.

DO NOT drive it until you fix it, no matter what....

first off is to KNOW for sure the frame and t-arms are not rusted out and in good shape....

second off is of course the lower links/struts...see that the bushings are in there nice and concentric, and that they are not bent.....bending is a old lazy way of tweeking the alignment OR someone stupid jacking the car that a way....

another thing to do is jack the car up and find out if the diffy output yokes are good with only about 1/16 inch MAX lateral/in-out play in there.....they act as the upper strut to keep the wheels vertical, and wear is great....

also check that the spindle bearings are good, on the wheels, they can be bad and you damn close to loose a wheel....

I had a similar problem in my 79. The clip had come off of my stub axle inside the differential allowing the drive line to move back and forth on corners. Jack up the rear end, pull on the top of the rear tire and watch to see if the stub axle moves in and out of the the differential. It should not move more than approximately 1/8".
