Default Has it been done before?

I researching LS swaps and been reading stories about guys who have retrofitted LS motors in F-bodies and chevelles and such. My goal was to put a LS and a 6 speed in my 76 vette. So the question is...has ANYONE ever even heard of such a thing being done? (successfully, that is). Cause I just read a story about a guys chevelle who had to reshape the tranny tunnel and offset the engine and all sorts of stuff. I just want to know what I'm getting myself into. Or..if I'm destined to be a pioneer of hotrodding(wierd mythical voice).

Did you see the sticky thread at the top of the page? You won't exactly be a pioneer. I am personally installing a LS1/T56 in my Vette and will be dropping the body down (hopefully) this weekend. There are others who have completed LS swaps and are on the road.

I've had mine on the road since 2002. See the sticky.

Trust me...not being a pioneer isn't necasarily a bad thing. If other s have done it than I feel a lot better about droppin G's on a motor and transmission pullout. I've heard that the t-56 particulary has clearance issues on C3's. Just saw that while skimming another thread. You'l have to keep me informed on how yours goes. I'm bout to get deployed to Guantanamo Bay for 12 months. So my project is being put on hold for a bit . But the more times I can see it done to other's cars...the easier mine will be. And I just see my time in Cuba as a year of parts stockpiling. So I can't really complain
