I just installed a pair of new DL 250 -2.5 inch sweet thunder inserts in my Hooker side mount pipes and WOW. My 69 big block came alive. The throttle response islike i've never felt before and that sound, unbelievable. My wife went on the first shake down run with me and even she had a huge grin on her face. When we pulled back into the garage she said she didn't even have to ask if I was happy with the outcome. The car sounds like a big block with side pipes should sound which is to say throaty ,powerful and totally bad ***. I had previously run a pair of max flows of my 68 and was happy with thier sound and performance ,but the sweet thunder inserts take that experience to another level entirely. I couldn't be happier with Sweet Thunders staff either, they were great to deal with and had my inserts to me in 2 days. Highly Recommended!

I'm happy to say that mine sounds (camshaft overlap and all)like the Big block sound clip on the Sweet thunder.com web site.Just go to 4" side pipe inserts ,click on the sound clip and enjoy.
I wouldn't say that they are much louder than the Maxflos, maybe a little. The big difference is how clean the sound is. The Max flo sounds more like a standard glasspack(crackle-pop), the Sweet thunders sound much more like 3" 40 series Flowmasters with short dump-outs. If you like Maxflos you're gonna love Sweet thunders, simple as that.
here is a pair of 30" sweet thunder mufflers I use under my fiberglass side exhaust covers... what you can't see it the extra 14" ones i had to install because they were so loud...were talking setting off cars alarms on a regular basis...
i got the 2.5" with my 350 and they sound amazing. even the idle is great with my stock cam (500 rpm in gear) but i cant wait to hear it when I put my new thumpr cam in
do your pipes make that nice throaty growl when you start slowing down from a decent rpm (3k or more) that and if you get a nice loud pop from them when you rev it up... god its so loud if the window is down lol...
oh and anyone ever get flames from their sidepipes? its the only thing im really trying to get done but im not drilling a hole in my pipes and throwing a spark plug in there... i'll make it run rich if i have to but i want to be sure it actually works
