I am working out the vaccum problems with my 1976 Corvette. One headlight is up and locked in place. How do I manually get it to drop down (don't worry, I know not to push on it) so that I can drive it in the day without being embarrassed while I work out the vaccum issue? It normally never gets driven at night so I didn't know there was a problem.
Just reach up under the car through the valance panel. You will see a cast (pot metal) link with a rod passing through it. On the rod are springs, Passing through the rod is a clevis attached to the actuator. Push toward the actuator and the light should come down.

Actually if it is LOCKED you will probably have to pull down where bolt #8 goes through the pivot arm to UNLOCK and allow the actuator rod to go back towards the actuator.

Just reach up under the grill and grab hold of the big hole in the end of the actuator link bracket and pull it down on it slightly . It will release and the headlight assembly will close.
