Default T56ers... I need some help!

Hey guys..
I've got a viper t56 that has everything needed to mate up to a SBC. My problem is that I do not know what to do for a crossmember. I would fab one up, if I had a lift or a spare frame laying around so I could do some accurate measurements. Also, could one of you guys be so kind to tell me the length needed for the driveshaft. Other than that I think I have to do a few mods to get the shifter in the right place and im set.

I don't know if the Viper trans is the same length as the Gm T56 but the driveshaft I'm using is 26.5" center-to-center on the u-joint cups. I can post some pics later of the mods that I did to the crossmember.

Here are a couple of pics of the modifications I made to my crossmember.

Hey Rick,
Do you know the length of your t56? Also, on the crossmember, it doesnt look as if you moved the location to where the tranny mounts. Is the location of the crossmember correct, but the mounting location needs to be lowered?

The length of the Camaro T56 from the engine is 32" give or take 1/8". The crossmember is in the stock location. The mount bolts pretty much line up with the front wall of the crossmember so it had to be notched out to let the mount be lowered down. I also made the mount adjustable in case there are any tunnel clearance problems. I'll know pretty soon - we're planning on putting the body back on this weekend.

Also keep in mind that I'm using a LS1 engine and the adapter plates may locate the engine in a slightly different location than the SBC. If you do a search there were fairly recent threads about T56 swaps, most of them using either small blocks or big blocks.
