Default Camswop Question

I finally got time to work on my lt4 hot cam swop into my zz4
The cam is installed
But I cannot reinstall the cam sprocket because the alignment pin is to big to fit the cam sprocket alignment hole
Do you all think that I can drill the alignment hole in the cam sprocket a little to make it fit
Thanks

Does your timing set match the application? Newer roller engines have a step nosed cam that require a timing gear with a recess specifically for that step nose. If your block is machined for a retainer plate, then that gets bolted on over the cam nose before the gear.

Older engines do not have the retainer plate provision...so I not sure if your block will have that.

The LT4 Hotcam is a step nose cam, and without the retainer plate you'll need a flat nose cam style cam gear set, and a spacer to adapter the step nose of the cam to a flat nose to match the gear. You'll also need a timing cover with a built in cam button or a pan allowing the use of a cam button and retainer plate.

So, it comes down to if your block is machined for a cam retainer plate, and if you have a step nose cam timing set or not.
