Default NOS colder plugs. How, where?

Thinking of increasing from a 100 shot to a 150-175. It is recommended to go to a 1-2 heat range cooler plug.

Honestly I don't know what to ask for. I go to Advance and Auto Zone and ask them and they say "huh".

Can someone clarify what exactly a colder plug is and where or how to ask. I believe the range has to do with the temp of the ceramic insulation.

Hello,

If you are using champion plugs (or most domestic manufacturers) going down on the number is a cooler plug. RV15YC is a cooler plug than a RV17YC. If your using Ngk plugs (or most japanese manufacturers)you have to go up on the number for a cooler plug.
Hope this helps.

If you follow the AC part numbers, An AC 45 is hotter than a 44 and so on. The second number is the heat range.

AC also offers 42`s and 43`s as colder competion plugs. These will load up on the street because of lower RPM.
