Default Roller cam in the future

Just sitting here waiting for the rain (Hannah) to go away thinking of putting in a roller cam. My solid flat tappet makes good power but the roller should make more power and give better throttle response in the lower rpms. My current solid flat tappet is a 252/260 @ .050 with a lift of .540/,558. The rest of my motor setup is in my signature.

Looking that a bunch of rollers I found these two that looked interesting.

The second one looks more to my liking. I'm at 409 rwhp always looking for more!

I have the Voodoo in my 496, 239/249 @ .050 and 630 lift and I like it. I've had good luck with Lunati.

Why do you want a solid roller,why not a hydraulic roller,a lot less maintence,dont have to worry about keep adjusting rockers.I am going with hydraulic roller ,edelbrock cam 238 dur, @50, 548 lift.rpm range1500 to 6500.very reasonable price from summit $230.00.cam supports 500+ hp.

Hey Gordon, I don't remember what size your engine is (I'm thinking 400+), Wayne (motorhead) has a similar cam to mine in his new 427sb and seems to be as happy with his as I have been with mine. The specs on mine are: part number is 12-000-9 which is the mechanical roller blank and the grind numbers are CS 4875S/4876S SR112+4. The lobe separation angle is 112 degrees. This cam has 4 degrees ground into it to improve the lower rpm torque so when it's installed at 108 degrees it will essentially be straight up at 112 degrees. The lift is intake .616"/ exhaust .622" with 1.6 rocker arm ratio. Duration @ .050 is Int. 248 & Exh. 254 . The cam timing events @ .050 are 16 52 63 11.

If you have DD, plug it in and see how it looks

Smoke..... You still alive?

Gordon has 385ci

Ask the lunati guy what the spring seat pressure would be if you installed this spring at 2.00 installed height? The lesser cam might almost run with the 160 behive if you have lighter valve train.

Lunati Ultra Series™ valve spring set

* Spring Type: Dual w/damper
* Outside Diameter: 1.514 in.
* Inside Diameter: 0.706 in.
* Seat Load: 235 lbs @ 1.950 in.
* Open Load: 589 lbs @ 1.250 in.
* Coil Bind: 1.170 in.
* Spring Rate: 506 lbs/in.

Part Number: 74650LUN

Mine is only a 385 ci. The specs you guys are running is a little much for my small 385. That is why Iwas thinking of staying in the 240s @ .050 duration with a lift in the .580s range. If I was over 400 inches yes that cam you talk about would be perfect. The old 421 we used to talk about, since been sold was running in the high 250s @ .050. Mine is a little smaller in cubic inches.

As far as going solid, my motor sees the + side of 6500 rpm to many times to use hyd lifters.

Hey what're you talking about being small at 385, mine is only 3ci'c larger at The smaller cam I'm sure will be fine and give you good street manners. I can't imagine what a 420ci+ engine must feel like, my (little) 388 spins the tires at 30 mph right up to 50+ mph At this point I can't see adding more power, but then again I just picked up some http://temp.corvetteforum.net/c3/mik...rboheaders.jpg just in case I get the itch down the road

George, I've been working full time, going to school full time and built a house for the last two years and just started a new job, so hopefully I'll soon have some more time on my hands

Hi Jacking Mike, I've been blessed with my dream job. When I was kid I had "HO" race cars and went to the local track called Portland International race track. At the time I was so young that I did not appreciate what was hurting my ears in the pits like 917's or Gt40's

Well now I work on them and get paid very well for doing it at tracks all over the world
