In prep for installing the new cam and intake, i got the old intake off and started cleaning the gasket surfaces. I discovered the rear drivers side water passage in the head was full of some kind of white powdery stuff. It scrapes out pretty easy and the old intake was was full of the junk as well. What the heck is this and whats the best way to get rid of it.

If you have a aluminum intake it could be aluminum oxide--corosion! Or it could be some deposits from your coolant. In any case, clean it out and start using anti freese or some anti corosive additive.
