Default 76 Vette Carb Issue?

Hello. Have a '76 with 350/350 auto with QuadraJet carb...(looks original)...When it is cold it requires a few pumps of the gas (10 to 12) to get it started..When it is good and warmed up and I shut it off (for 5 to 10 minutes). It is HARD to start with no pump of accelerator and have to pump it 3 to 4 times (1/2 throttle) to get it to crank..I have replaced fuel pump/sending unit in tank....CARB/CHOKE issue???......Thanks , Pete

Be sure the choke is closed when the engine is cold and open when warm. The carb could be leaking into the intake as it sits, this is common with old Q-jets. If you have to crank it a while (to fill up the carb) after it's sat then that's probably the problem.

Good Luck, Paul

Try this. Crank for a couple seconds, 4 to 5 to build fuel pressure with your pump. (I would guess that's what Paul means also as the fuel will drain into the intake and dry out or back to the tank). Then give it 3 to 5 pumps. If it starts thats normal. At least for me. Otherwise You may need to look at a couple things. Is it in tune..new plugs? Timing ok...how are the wires. Food for thought ...
