Gear ratio difference between M20, M21, M22 ??

This stuff is taken from my web site. If course people tend not to read everything and as a result don't understand how ratios are created in a 4 speed. You drive through two pairs of gears to get a ratio. Input / Cluster head set multiplied by physical 1st set, 3rd set and 4th set. Since the physical 1st, 2nd and 3rd gears are the same in regards to tooth count in M20 M21 and M22, the PERCENTAGE DROP from 1 to 2 to 3 will be the same even though the ratio is different.

Id love to see a close ratio box with straight cut gears
2.6x first and .8 fth
Everyones different, do not like boxes where theres a noticeable drop in rpm even with low gears

M21 with a 3.08 rear end IMHO is the 'perfect' gearbox. Not too low a 1st gear ratio to 'burn the rugs' - set the shift light for 6000 rpm which means 72 mph in 1st - 93 mph in 2nd and 122 mph in 3rd. what's wrong with that. Whilst all the rice burners and 4 bangers are shifting into second and third gears I'm just sailing past waiting for 3nd gear
