By all means, go with the AFRs.... the AFRs gave me about 30+ horsepower more than the TFs
A little more cam than yours and I'm getting 530hp/505lb from a 383 with AFR 195s. 11:1 static compression not a hint of ping on 93. Shop dyno'd mine back to back with an identical build (exept heads). The AFRs produced 30hp more than the TFs they ported.
With less cam you will probably be better off with 10-10.5:1 compression.
Thanks for all the help guys, I really really appreciate it. If I decided to go with heads, which size intake ports would be best for my setup? I've seen some people say 195, some say 200, some say 215. I really don't know so I'd advice on that as well. I will also probably try to switch to an RPM/other intake manifold soon since it's a higher RPM cam that I have now.

It is easier to find a intake that fits the AFR 195. They outflow most other 200, 210, 215 heads. The smaller port allows a little better midrange and low end torque. With a 383, your build level and a RPM limited hydraulic cam they are perfect. A better intake will help but hood clearance is an issue with some. JMHO
Oh I didn't realize I'd need a new intake if I went with something else. I've seen some AFR 215s for a good price which is why I was asking about those. I guess I'll stick trying to find some 195s though if it seems like a 215 wouldn't match the build. I do have a bigger cowl hood than stock tho, so I'm not terribly worried about clearance.
Maybe tear the heads off and determine if a gasket swap would help (THICKER GASKET) and take a die grinder and "clean up" the combustion chambers, you could then cc them out to 70-72 cc? That would leave money for a bigger cam and a bigger suitable intake ...... Are you sure youre arent running lean?
