Hey guys my problem is the emergency brake cable is rubbing the back tires. I know i have seen something here about moving it when you have wider tires. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
The emergency brake cable guide welded to the outside of trailing arm needs to be removed and welded to the inside of the trailing arm. This gives you approximately one more inch of clearance for wider tires. The emergency brakes still works fine.
That's where I put mine. Then the problem becomes that when the tires are back on the ground, the ebrake cable rubs on the rubber brake hose. I changed to SS braided brake hoses as a temporary fix. Also, you might have to shorten your ebrake cable itself since the new routing is a little shorter.
The secret here is to do a trial fit prior to rewelding the guide to insure the guide is in the correct location and all clearances are maintained.
The range of location of the bracket is limited by the fitting in the cable that attaches to the bracket. Since it is being moved from where it was designed to work all the required clearances can't necessarily be achieved.
15 years ago I found putting it behind the rotor on the outside seemed the best solution, and moving the shroud frame brackets over to the outside of the thwart....I also used springs to the shock mount from the cable shroud to make damn sure they didn't rub the tires....
