Looking for bolt on true duel exhaust system for 80 vette with headers. I found one set at Corvette Central. Any others that I can compare too. Dave

Is a complete header-back package a must? I had a package with block hugger headers on my '80 for a little while. I didn't like the fit and performance wasn't much better than stock. Now I have Dynomax ceramic coated full length headers, a simple modification to my left crossmember, and custom pipes. The custom exhaust cost just a little bit more than the package.

I like those headers better and thats the way I want to go really if I can find a shop that will install the customs pipes without cats. Also this car may be getting a 200r4 trans swap so a new crossmember may be in order also. Dave

Dave, I went with Dynamax ceramic headers an exhaust from mid america motor works. The pipes where designed to fit stock headers so mods where a must. 2 trips to the muffler shop for some custom bends. This system has the drivers side pipe cross over to passenger side just before trans support so no need to change trans support. Overall things worked out well. Took me a week to install at home but I took my time.

If your thinking about modifing the crossmember, consider using a 79 or yearier crossmember. These have the holes in them for the pipes to go through. You can use full length headers and a stock 74 true dual exhaust system. Any shop can bend it up to the 74 specs or you can talk to Allen's Stainless, they'll sell you a 74 system with head pipes cut to meet your headers.
