I have a zz454 crate engine in my '71, and have been wanting to ditch the carb setup for a year now. There is a Vortec FI setup off a '98 pickup for sale on fleabay for cheap $$$. It has all the wiring and computer stuff to go along with it.
My question is, if it fits under my L-88 hood, can I program this so it doesn't run like a BB Pickup??? It's got alot of low end grunt now, but it does make power up to about 5500rpm. Will this plenum support my top end, and is it progammable to maybe even gain some HP up there???
I have no experience with this computer stuff, but I have a friend who does. Any input is appreciated.
Late I know, but sounds interesting. My only concern would be that it might not be too easy to program. I believe if I was doing a BB, I would stick with a TBI system from an earlier 90s truck. For a complete Vortec setup cheap, I might take a chance and find out. Most of the fuel stuff for the swap would support any FI swap.
