I was just wondering how many daily drivers they were out there and what year models. I am thinking about buying a crome bumper vette or an 80-82 vette as a daily driver any downsides to this??
A little common sense will go a long way when you consider a 82 for a daily driver. It is still 20 years old. Even if it was taken care of stuff is gonna wear out and break down. Unless you are buying a fully restored car, you will always be risking it with a C3.

I just don't think a C-3 should be a daily driver...AT ALL
Hey who you calling stupid? What do you know about daily drivers ? Its not like your SAAB Turbo is the penticle of reliability. hahahahahaah.
:jester
I guess it would be you :jester ....By the way I have had my Saab for 4 years and 90,000 miles and have never had a problem....Can u say that about your vette?? I did not think so :jester
I drive mine everyday that it is nice out. Not in winter though. Nothing has gone wrong with the car that wasn't wrong when I bought it. As a matter of fact, I can't wait for next summer cause I'll have all the kinks worked out by then. The worst part for me is the 1:1 ratio of driving to cleaning in order to keep the car looking new. Drive, clean, drive, clean .....
"Ol Blue" has been very dependable since I started driving it after fixing all the stuff that didn't hold up due to the previous owner "NOT DRIVING" it and trying to save the miles on it. To me that is the worst thing to do to any car...to let them sit instead of driving.
I drive my '75 as a daily driver and have not had any major problems and no 'break-downs.' However, I do have a ZZZ crate engine with very few miles on it. You may need to sacrifice some creature comforts to cruise in a more beautiful C3! But it certainly is possible to drive one daily. I am surprised by the overwhelming negative comments because usually when this topic shows, the daily drivers are everywhere in support. I suppose most of the reasoning for the lack of support from daily drivers are the early negative comments. Where are the rest of the daily drivers?
Never lets me down, for more than a few minutes every blue moon :D
I find bumpy roads and lousy traffic more annoying than in other cars, but...its a corvette!!
I drive my 69 BB every day to work and almost any where my wife an I go. Of course you need to do a little work now and then but there are no computers and electronics to deal with. I think that fact is a plus. I can tune my car up quite often and still not spend a lot of money compared to late model cars when they have problems. (one fuel injector can cost $60-70) I have no reliability concerns at all. Of course if you have mega buck the drive a C-5 daily or what ever you want.
I drive my 75 daily and will continue to do so until I can afford a new c5 or c6 or c7, whatever is available when the time comes. I have driven mine long enough that I can generally tell when something is amiss and fix it before a breakdown. I live 5 miles from my workplace and drive rain or shine. The presteige of driving a c3 is worth the occasional inconvenience of gas expence or maintainance. Hershey :chevy :chevy :chevy
