Default Where To Get Gauge Bracket

I had to get a mechanical temperature gauge because my stock electrical gauge was about 30 degrees off. The local parts store in this small town didnt have a large selection of mechanical gauges so I got an iequus gauge. http://www.iequus.com/products.php?category_id=100_105 The gauge has a twist on ring mount but did not come with a bracket. Does anyone know where I can get a bracket for this gauge? I am just looking for a simple bracket so I can mount this gauge somewhere like under the dash, unless someone has any other suggestions on how or where I should mount the gauge. Thanks,

Nathan

I think it might be more than just the sending unit. The sending unit is the stock unit. I guess 26 years has done it's time on the sending unit and or wires. I will eventually replace all of the wires, sending unit, and gauge if need be, but in the interim I would like to mount the mechanical gauge. Any ideas where I can find a simple bracket?

they don't call these modifications for nothing, you will probalbe have to fab. a bracket.
why do all that work to Bubba it up ? there are a ton of write ups on how to check and verify temp. gauge calibration on this forum. your wires are most likely fine. unless you see obvious melting or discoloration near the sending unit.

I was in the same boat 2 days ago. I just changed the sending unit & guess what? The gauge now works great!

Where did you get the sending unit derby98? Just so I am not overlooking anything, the coolant must be drained to replace the sending unit right?

if your quick, .... After the motor is cold !
you can pop out the old unit and install a new unit, without draining the system.
I recommend Teflon paste on the new sending unit, not Teflon tape,
the new unit must be screwed in tight enough to gnd the sending unit.

I recommend, you drain the system, and remove the thermostat,
put the thermostat and the new sending unit in a pan of water along with a thermometer,
Use a ext. cord run it out to the car, use the Ext. cord and jumper wires,
to connect and gnd and sending unit,
crank up the hot water watch the stat. for when it opens,
Verify gauge, and Stat. all agree with tempatures. GoodLuck... 69VETT

I got the sender from my local Carquest parts store. I just unscrewed it & lost a bit of coolant & stuck the new one in once I had applied teflon tape to the threads. Topped off coolant & down the road she goes.

the threads are ntp you shouldn't need any sealant and it might affect the way the sending unit is grounded
