My 82 is throwing codes
So I get to work and pull put the ol paper clip and I am throwing a code
15 Coolant Temp sensorvoltage high
33 Mao Sensor signal voltage wa too high (low vacuum) for 5 sec when throttle was under 2%
I am confused to why she is doing this the only thing I can think of is I havent put a thermostat back in since the old one was stuck open so mabye it is running to cold?
Pleae help i really dont want to have her towed home.
Ignore the code 33 for now. Possible false code.
Check the coolant temp sensor plug. If it's round, replace it and the sensor.

82 won't run without a stat.Keep in mind coolant temp sensor takes a reading from directly below the thermostat. It send the results to the ecm which determines if the engine is hot or cold.
As for the MAP. Because of the rough idle it probably sensed well under 20 psi and gave you a code. Probably related to the cooling problem. As indicared above ignore it for now.

So do es anyone knoe how hard it is to find the updated temp sender for these cars? I finally found one at schucks and then after searching thru a few catalogs we found the pigtail. You would think that the replacement sender would come with the updated pigtail Uh NO!
So anyways I went home last night after finding the sender and come to find that the cause for the problems was the map sensor comming apart. Not that the temp sender didn't need replacing since it was the original and was pretty well worn out.
Thanks god I happend to have a new map sensor on the shelf since I didnt discover it was bad untill ten pm and I really wanted to drive her today since it may be the last nice day we get.
Thanks for everyone who thru in there ideas it gave me a great place to start.
