Wonder if GM was going to have us put the shifter in neutral before the car would start ???
This is out of the 79 Corvette GM shop manual.Just thought I would share.
My 79 TH350 neutral safety switch allowed one to start in either park or neutral - checked it with my ohm meter. Can't read all of the manual page, but suspect the 'neutral safety' was more automatic related (and really neurtral or park). The page does say 'clutch start switch' OR 'neutral safety switch' - think it was one or the other, not both.
I used the wiring for my neutral safety switch to a switch on the clutch pedal to serve as a neutral safety feature when I swapped in a T56 - really wanted a 'no starter engage' unless clutch pedal depressed.
