On my 80 the lighting for the heater A/C culster leaves a lot to be desired. It
looks like the light is suppose to come from a bulb mounted in the top of the
gauge cluster. When I got the car the light assembly that goes in that spot was missing. Mounting area is warped (guess from the heat of the bulb) I was
able to replace the bulb with a so so unit (found at local auto parts store). Does anyone know where I can get the correct bulb and socket? Checked most of my Vette catalogs and have not found one.
The light bulb you need is a special bulb, with a focus lens on the end of it. It's available from most parts houses. Got mine from the Eckler's catalog. Even with the correct bulb, the lighting leaves something to be desired. Backlighting would have been a much better idea on GM's part.
Thanks all :) :) Grabbed the Ecklers cataloge headed for the reading room and what did I find on page 292. A listing for a 77-82 heater A/C control lamp.
Humm may need to order that two grand supension package because I need this bulb. I wonder if my wife will fall for that one. Better not go there, too
da* cold to sleep in the Vette.
