I've read a lot of posts on here about how difficult it is to remove the shock mounts when you want to replace the struts. I soaked mine in solvent for 3 days, then hammered the crap out of them with a 4 pound sledge hammer, and did manage to move them this way, but it was still difficult. Then, I went and got a 2 jaw gear puller (performance tool part number W87122) and was able to use that. I got the shock mounts out in about 2 minutes. I should have done this a week ago.
Just a heads up for anyone doing this job- skip all the other advice and just get that gear puller.

Please post a pic of the puller setup. I'm wondering if the puller would've worked without the hammer first...? I have tried this BTW--it didn't work for me
When I used the air hammer I keep the nut install it backwards and hammer till it's loose, the nut prevents the mount from flaring so it will still come out. I have pics if you want.
