Default HP vs ET how much?

I'm trying to guessimate the relationship between a 7 sec 1/4 mile runs and the HP to get it there. Yes I know traction and driver make a difference but what I'm looking for is a baseline for the 12 bolt diff builds. Tom has them in 7-8 sec cars and they're holding up but I don't have the info on those cars to see what power levels they're at, I'm told over 1000 but figure you racers out there would know.
Thanks for your input.

I'd bet that's right. 7 Second 1/4 mile is HUGE!

Take a look at the Top Sportsman cars. They run 180MPH and low 7's I believe they are in the 1500HP range depending on how much the car weighs and what the rules are for that particular part of the world

HP vs trap speed would be a better indicator.

Weight to horse power, the heavier the car the more power to move it to go as fast as a lighter car...

I have a Moroso Speed/Power calculator at home. Kind of a SWAG slide rule thing but you can slide it for weight/time/hp/tq/speed and it'll give you answers. No idea how close they are or IF they are.

this is good article on what it takes

http://www.superchevy.com/features/i...ala/index.html

3600 pound Chevy 7.82@170 mph

632ci and 400 shot = 1120 hp

If you could drop the car 600 pounds down to 3000 it would run 7.30's at over 180.

Gary,
I'll let you know on saturday. Just gotta add another engine to my car and find my cajunes.

Probably be best to find someone running the 7 sec 1/4 pass with the 12 bolt. How the driver gets into 1st gear is probably the deciding factor of whether or not your pinion stays in 1 piece. You messing with Toms 12 bolts now?

For a second there I thought your son talked you into making his car a 7 sec bullet.
