No EGR, no carb/choke heat. Otherwise they should not have fitment issues.

The lack of EGR isn't a big deal - but make sure your carb (especially if it's a Q-Jet) can be converted to an electric choke. The P/N you noted was also a straight-plug head if that matters.

To me this appears to be a compresion of two alum heads to a iron head.
IK180: 243/175 I/E CFM @ .500 lift
Vortec: 239/160 I/E CFM @ .500 lift
Dart: 222/175 I/E CFM @ .500/.600 lift
If thats the case i wouldn"t say thats quiet fair.......the 180 dart pro 1 alum head flows :
257/172 cfm @ 500 lift

Al a set of iron eagles sold on the for sale section 2 weeks ago for 350 keep a eye out over there

What's "fair" about flow numbers? I compared the heads the OP was asking about...

Al, you can find the P/N on the header and then look up the application notes on the Hooker website. Without a P/N, it's not possible to say.

I"ll say this, pulling plugs on a set of iron eagles with angle plugs an hooker super comps is no fun.

Fwiw the Dart 180 listed above actually measures 191cc runner and 4-5 cc bigger combustion chamber. May help in your selection.

I will order the Dart 180 straight plugs. Hopefully, the spark plugs will be in the same location as my smog heads. Al

Does anyone have the flow numbers for the Dart Iron Eagle Platinum heads? All they list on their website is the flow @ 0.500" lift for intake, and for some reason exhaust flow @ 0.600" lift. Is that a typo? Who's running 0.600" of lift on their exhaust???

Also, does anyone have the Dart Iron Eagle S/S series? Not that I'm interested since the chambers' are too large and the runners are too small, but wondering what type of application people are running them on.

I read Iron Eagles 180's flow 222 @ 5oo" lift. These heads make 400 hp on a 355 with a 962 style cam.

I'm looking for the profile though throughout the lift. And I'd be very wary about making a statement about hp with just the heads and cam.

I added 30 rwhp just swaping a 600 carb to a 750, an tuneing it to my 355. A lot of varables come into effect when trying to find hp....

Dart does not offer the 180 cc head using their Platinum Technology. Based on what is on their website, it appears they do offer the 180's in Platinum, so I called them to verify they were available. What they told me was that the smallest head they offer that uses the Platinum Technology is the 200 cc head. It was explained to me that they are in fact better than the S/S heads, but the company didn't feel it was worth the effort to employ it with the 180's. Give them a call and they will do a much better job of explaining it than I can.

I just ordered a set of the 180 cc heads for my '63 327 to be used with a CC Hydraulic Roller and the assembled heads are $571.95 each.

Good luck... GUSTO

This was the information I was looking for, so maybe else is looking for it too.

This is the flow in CFMs @ 28" WC For the Dart Iron Eagles 180cc and the Brodix IK180s. For the most part, the Brodix heads seem to flow alot better, especially at .500+ lift.

The Dart #'s were supplied directly from a gentlemen at Dart, and the Brodix numbers are straight off their website. If there's any "fluff" to these numbers, I'm assuming its about equal.

I called them, and you're right, I'm still confused. The guy told me they didn't offer any of their Iron Eagles with the Platinum Technology and you had to look to the Pro 1's for that. I told him about the website, and he seemed both clueless and indifferent.

Besides, based on those flow numbers, I think I'll be going with the Brodix IK180s.

From what I understand the Dart Iron Eagles 200cc and above you can get the platinum series.(the Dart Iron Eagle 180cc does not have the platinum design...)

All of the Pro 1's even the 180cc have the platinum design.

That is at least what I have read on the Dart Boards.
