I bought 2 pairs of headlight conversion lights that use a H4 bulb and installed blue HID's in them. The light output is not really blue, but more white. Only looks blue looking at the lights directly.
I've run the Hella H-4's and H-1's in everything for years. I love the light pattern and the brightness is more than I need, even with my feeble old eyes! Technology has improved over the years, but these are all I need.

I think you may be referring to GE Landing Lights # 4537
They are available on line for $10-12 each and fit into the high beam side.
I believe the candle power is either 200,000 or 300,000
My son is operations manager at Logan Airport in Boston and is obtaining a set for my 68

Turtlevette,
It's one way to get the slowpoke in front of you to move out of the way.
It also makes it easier for older tired eyes.
My wife's Audi has the factory HID lights and they are great for driving at night because they are safer since you can't outdrive them.
The old Corvettes just didn't have very good lights but we were younger then and didn't notice it as much.

Don't use a 30amp Bosch relay for 90watt H4's--the relays fail after about a year--use a 75amp relay instead.
Does anyone know how many amps these newer lights pull? I would have thought a 30-amp relay would have been plenty. This is something on my to-do list this winter and I would prefer to only do it once.
