Default Carb swap Questions

I’m considering swapping my Quadrajet out for a Holley Street Avenger and need some tips from folks that have done this. I would be running an Edelbrock Performer Vortec intake manifold with no EGR.
Questions;

1- What fuel line modifications are required? Can I just cut the stock fuel pump to carb line and do some creative pluming? Are there kits available for this?
2- Brake booster vacuum connection. How do you connect it to the Street Avenger?
3- Stock air cleaner will not fit will it?
4- What modifications are required to the throttle linkage or bracket?

I just installed a 770 Street Avenger on my '73 BB. It already had a Holley on it so linkage worked. You will need a dual inlet fuel fitting. I ordered my parts from Summit and the SA came with a free Air Cleaner. Also ordered one of dual inlet gas lines. Right now it is gobbled together with the stock line from the fuel pump up to near the carb. and then a short section of rubber hose to the dual inlet connector. I plan to improve that soon with a more permanent setup. The SA has a provision on the rear of the carb for a power brake vacuum hookup. Similar one on the front for the PCV.

I'm still tuning mine with the aid of an LM-1 meter. Stock jetting was too rich at Denver altitude and had to use the small wire trick in the idle restrictors to get cruise mixture up to about 13.8AFR.

Have fun. Ralph.

Well, I never thought I would consider this myself but Ive had problems with bowl leak down on the 2 quadrajets I have. Just my luck to end up with 2 duds. I haven't given up quite yet but I wanted to start exploring other options. Plus, since you can't get 'new' quadrajets anymore it would be nice to have something new and not have to fiddle with it.

Lars has a paper on making fuel lines. I read it a couple times, bought the tubing bender and flaring tools and set out to give it a go. Good lord that was easy. I just got a straight line from the parts store and created a new line from the pump to the carb. I added an anodized summit filter because I didn't care for the looks of the one Lars used in his paper. Don't waste your time getting creative with the existing line.

i can answer this one.

becauses no one works on a quadrajet anymore.
i know that there are people on the internet that will rebuild it for you but even then i highly doubt that they will be able to set it up perfectly for your particular engine. it will still require some fine tuning.

i live in san antonio. the only person i have been able to find that will rebuild and then road tune the car wanted 400 bucks.

the holley for my 68 mustang on the other hand cost me 50 bucks for a rebuild and 150 for road tuning. the 570 street avenger on that car required 1/2 a turn on the idle mixture screws and 1 size up jets on the primaries and it runs perfectly.

another issue is purchasing. who sells brand new ones anymore? at first i considered a brand new oneqjet because i cant stand a reman anything. you can buy a brand new holley anywhere. brand new qjet? if there is such a thing it requires illuminati like sources to find the place i guess.

i know that quadrajets are supposed to be better, more modern, more fuel efficienct etc etc but user friendly they are not.
a trained monkey can rebuild a holley or an edelbrock. they dont require a degree in advance applied metaphysics. but i digress.
that being said, the jet perforance qjet i had on my 72 BB is sitting in the garage in a box just dying for someone who actually knows how to tune these things to take it off my hands while i await summit to deliver my own street avenger.
