I put in my Hurst Shifter last month and it is great; however, about a week ago I hear a loud knocking sound when I'm idling and when I'm in third gear. During iding it stops when I push in the clutch. When I shift into thrid gear it's so loud I can't use that gear. I jacked up the car and checked the linkage which looks to be correctly adjusted. Any thoughts on what it could be??
From your description it sounds like you have a broken tooth on 3rd gear.I've never heard a broken tooth and the only broken teeth I've ever seen is after the trans exploded.I would recommend not driving the car until you figure out what the noise is.
edit-if you do your own work and you get it apart and find you do have a broken 3rd gear I believe I have some laying around you are welcome to depending on how many teeth.I dont have any spare counter shafts in case the bad tooth is on it.

While it's not the same as a transmission, a while back I broke a tooth off of a ring gear in a rear end. It also knocked so badly that I couldn't drive it.
